Martha Pennybacker

Martha Marian Hackney Pennybacker, of Lexington, Ky., wife of Rev. Dr. Albert M. Pennybacker Jr., died Monday, Sept. 8, 2013.In addition to her husband of 62 years, she is survived by her children, Dr. Susan Dabney Pennybacker, Chapel Hill, N.C., Janet Pennybacker Scott, Lexington, Ky., David W. Pennybacker, Rowlett, Texas; her granddaughters, Wynston and Spencer, Rowlett, Texas; and her Harvey cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. F. Russell Hackney; her grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. F. J. Hackney; and her aunt Edythe Harvey, all of Chattanooga.She was a graduate of Bright School and the Girls Preparatory School, both of Chattanooga, and George Peabody Teachers College of Vanderbilt University, Nashville. Much of her life was focused on being a homemaker. In addition she taught in public and private schools, working in early childhood education.
