Minnie Bethune

Minnie L. Bethune, 94, of Danville, Va., died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Danville Regional Medical Center after being in declining health for the past three months.Born in Walker County, Ga., on May 24, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Sam Lamb and Ethel Campbell Lamb. She lived most of her life in Rossville, and in Danville, Va., and retired from Dan River Mills Inc. where she worked as a weaver. She loved children and owned and operated Minnies Day Care Center in Danville.On Feb. 16, 1955 she married Willard E. Bethune who preceded her in death.In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters.Survivors include two daughters, Debbie D. Biro, of Danville, and Rebecca Van Donsler, of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Ernie Biro and Alicia Collins; a nephew, Wayne L. Lamb, and wife, Joyce, of Chattanooga; and many other nieces and nephews in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area; and five great-grandchildren.There will be no visitation at the funeral home.Graveside services for Minnie will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 at Chattanooga National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her late husband, Willard.The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com.Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
