Roger Tornow

Roger Ervin Tornow, 84, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, in Soddy-Daisy.Roger was born in Appleton, Wis. to Orville and Amelia Tornow on Jan. 7, 1929. He went to school in Appleton, Wis. He married Kay Collipp on June 14, 1952 in Appleton, Wis. He worked as a Marketing Manager for Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. for 36 1/2 years. He was a veteran of The Occupation of Germany and Korean War and served in the Army and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. He was involved in The Boy Scouts of America and VFW Post 4407. He received BSAs Silver Beaver.Roger was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne Funk.Roger is survived by his wife, Kay; sons, Scot (Sherry), Blaine (Debra) and Todd (Julie); grandchildren, Garret, Taylor, Nicholas, Jennifer, Christy, Kelly, Mason, Steven and Eric; great-grandchild, Ariana.The family of Roger Tornow wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Morning Pointe of Hixson, Soddy-Daisy Healthcare and Hospice of Chattanooga.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, St. Luke UMC in Chattanooga or Gulf Breeze UMC in Florida.Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013. at St Luke UMC with the Rev. Braxton Cotton officiating.A Celebration of Life Service at Gulf Breeze UMC in Gulf Breeze, Fla., will be announced at a later date.The following week on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at 2 p.m., there will be a Celebration of Life Service at Gulf Breeze UMC in Gulf Breeze, Fla.
