Lamon Jones

Jr.Lamon Jones Jr., 85, peacefully departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, in Chattanooga.He loved the Lord and was a faithful reader and doer of His Holy Word. Lamon was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Chattanooga.Lamon was born on September 14, 1928 in Anniston, Ala. He was the eldest son of the late Lamon Jones Sr. and Lillie Morris Jones and was the third of five children. He was an honest, hard working, highly respected fun-loving, dependable, strong willed and well traveled man who will linger in the memory of all whose lives he touched.He was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Henrietta Keith and Geneva Thurman.Among those who will forever cherish his memory are brothers, Autry and Eric Jones; nieces, Lillie Wills, Sylvia Leslie and Valerie Anderson; nephews, Calvin (Bertha) and Chester McCloud, all of Chattanooga; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, in the chapel. Interment in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 67 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
