Catherine Spry

Catherine Murrah Spry slipped quietly into eternity to join her husband Hoyt on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013.She was the youngest and sole surviving child of Claude and Ora Lee Grisham Murrah. Brothers were Claude Jr. Milton, Frank and Lester. Sisters were Edna Ball, Minnie Murrah and Verona Jasper.She was retired from TVA as a Registered Nurse and had been an early EMT volunteer with the Rogersville Rescue Squad as well as a volunteer with the TVA Retirees Association.She is survived by her only child, Vicky and her husband, George, of Chattanooga; grandsons are Trey and his wife, Annamarie, of Marietta, Ga., and Spry and his wife, Madina, of Washington, D.C. Trey and Annamaries son, Henry is her great-grandchild; special niece and nephew are Roger and Mary Nichols, Rogersville, Ala.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. CDT Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Rogersville United Methodist Church, Rogersville.Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. CDT prior to the service.Family asks that in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to Rogersville United Methodist Building Fund, 51 Turner Lindsey Ln, Rogersville, AL 35652.Arrangements are by Spry Funeral Home, Athens, Ala., with nephews Jimmy and Gregg Spry directing. Vicky would like to personally thank all staff of Morning Point of Hixson, Life Care of Hixson, and Caris Hospice Program for there professionalism and loving care during the last three years.
