Lesley Carter

Lesley Horton Carter passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013. He was born Dec. 7, 1915.His parents, John and Martha Carter; his wife, Dolly; his 15 siblings, and their spouses preceded him in death.He is survived by daughter, Libby Jennings; his adopted daughters, Lynn Swafford, Rosemary Arnold, Brenda Cox, Jane Chandler and Josephine Nyasimi; grandchildren, Jason and Sherry Jennings; and great-granddaughter, Annsley Carter Jennings. He also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren.Mr. Carter was an employee of Dixie Yarns for 42 plus years, and prior to that, was in the Army. He served during World War II.He was a long time member of Brooks Memorial Methodist Church, but had to stop attending due to a severe hearing problem.A quiet unassuming man, Mr. Carter lived his life just that way---never imposing or demanding, and never critical of anyone. He had a wonderful, refreshing sense of humor, never realizing how witty and funny he was. He will be greatly missed by the people who loved him, and never forgotten.The family wishes to thank Josephine and Ken Nyasimi, and the staff at the Senior Saints Group Home where Mr. Carter resided for the last 18 months of his life. Also, thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga and the staff that attended him. All attended him with love, concern and respect. Please know how special you all are.A memorial is being initiated for the Senior Saints Group Home.
