Betty Swaney

Bettye Jo Wooten Swaney, 78, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014. She was a lifelong resident of Rossville and a member of James Street Church of God. Bettye was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister, who enjoyed being surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Allen Swaney; parents, James Crowley and Rachel Inez Barbour Wooten; grandson, Hunter Boutwell; sister, Louise Stewart; and brother, James Scott Wooten. Bettye is survived by her children, Earl Wilson, Kim Wilson, Candy (Jeff) Boutwell, Dennis Swaney and Derrick Swaney; sister, Nita Sue Robison; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Lawrence Bradford. Entombment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today, 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday. Arrangements by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
