John Reilly

John "Jack" Reilly, a long-time resident and native of Chattanooga died Sunday, March 16, 2014. Jack was the son of the Late John and Gertrude Wilcox Reilly of this city. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hill Reilly, of 58 years; and their two children, daughter, Christine Reilly Hamilton and Kevin Thomas Reilly. Their five grandchildren, Lindsey, Taylor Quinn, Conley Hamilton, Reilly Hamilton and Trenton Thomas Reilly and several nieces and nephews. Jack graduated from Notre Dame High School and the University of Chattanooga (UTC) and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He received his graduate from the School of Banking at Rutgers University in New Jersey and a graduate of the Executive Development Program at The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Jack was active in numerous professional, civic and social organizations. He participated in the Heart Fund, the United Way Campaign, the initial building fund for the Notre Dame High School and the Saint Jude Building fund. Jack served as the president of the American National Bank fellowship club, president and director of the Chattanooga Bank Administration Institute, director of the Southeastern Region of the Bank Administration Institute, Headquartered in Chicago, Ill. He also served as the director for both the Georgia and Tennessee Automated Clearing House for a number of years. Upon graduation from UTC, Jack served in the armed services and while stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, he was an Executive officer and Company Commander. Jack retired in 1994 as the senior vice president and operations division manager of SunTrust Service Corporation, an office he held previously at Third National Corporation of Nashville and America National Bank of Chattanooga. Upon retirement Jack and Nancy moved to Crystal River, Fla., for several years. Together they joined the First Presbyterian Church and later Jack was ordained an elder and served as chairman of the worship committee and the finance committee. Jack and Nancy enjoyed travel, college football and basketball, tennis and grandchildren sporting events. Upon returning to Chattanooga before moving to Knoxville they were members of the Northside Presbyterian Church.
