Myrtle Fickett

Myrtle Lorene Malone Fickett, 89, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014. She was born in Chickamauga, Ga., to the late, Charles and Rhoda Bell Walker but had lived most of her life in Lakeland, Fla. She was of the Christian faith and was previously employed with Piper Aircraft in Lakeland for more than 12 years. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Osbon Malone; and sister, Bertha Burson Autry. Survivors include her husband, Herbert Fickett, of Leesburg, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Marcheia and (Darrel) Darley, of Steinhatchee, Fla.; stepchildren, Rodney and (Yola) Fickett, of Springfield, Tenn., and Brenda and (Steve) Jacobson, of Riverside, Calif.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; special nephew, Barry Burson; and numerous extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Pastor Glen Studdard and Pastor Roger Keenan officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South. The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. today and prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
