Una Ann Elkins

Una Ann Elam Elkins, 92, of Red Bank, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 31, 2014, following a short illness. Una Ann was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. She along with her husband, Ed Elam, were previous owners of Red Bank Realty where Una Ann was the managing broker. She was one of the first female Realtors in Chattanoga and at one time served as president of the Women's Council. Throughout the years, she worked for several Realtors. Her mentor and first employer was her third grade teacher, Mary Virginia Austin. Una Ann sold Red Bank Realty to Gloria Sutton in 1981. Una Ann was very involved with the Red Bank Chamber of Commerce and the Red Bank Jubilee. Una Ann lived in Red Bank for 40 years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Ann Elam; two husbands, Edwin G. Elam and James T. Elkins. Her birth parents were Euna Ethel Fugate and Hubert Rodric. After the death of her mother, Una Ann was adopted by her great-aunt and uncle, William and Susannah Guffey Jones. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Espy and Hazel Myrick; brothers, Bob Rodric and Jimmy Rodric; and adopted brother, Alan Jones. Survivors include her sons, William (Cynthia) Elam, Ed (Sue) Elam and Mark (Ellen) Elam, all of Chattanooga; eight grandchildren, Chris (Michelle) Elam, of Mowbray Mountain, Amy (Brian) Krizan, of Louisville, Ky., Jennifer (Randy) Smith, of Dunlap, Laura (Fred) Newton, of Signal Mountain, Ben (Christi) Elam, of Louisville, Tenn., Jon (Tathiana) Elam, of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Miranda Elam, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Hannah Elam, of Chattanooga; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace with the Rev. Bill Spencer officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
