Helen Thaxton

Helen Sisson Thaxton, 89, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Manorhouse Assisted Living, Chattanooga, TN 37405. She was born Sept. 19, 1924 in Ringgold, Ga., daughter of John Lester Sisson and Myrtle Childers Sisson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Robert "Bud" Thaxton; a brother, John M. Sisson (Marian) and Lee; sisters, Thelma Sisson and Annie Mae (Rod) Powell; brother-in-law, John Riddle Sr. Helen is survived by her sister, Julia (George) Hammon; sister-in-law, Dorothy Riddle and many nieces and nephews. She graduated from Ringgold High, attended LaGrange College in Georgia and McKenzie Business School. Helen served in War Rationing Office as Price Clerk during World War II. She retired from The DuPont Mfg. Plant and Eastgate Marketing Center after 37 years. Helen was a charter member of St. Peters Episcopal Church, Chattanooga and Church of Our Savior, Dayton, and St. Albans in Hixson. The Rev. Doctor Hugh B. Jones will conduct Funeral services at St. Albans Episcopal Church, 7524 Hixson Pike at 2 p.m. today, April 3. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Albans Episcopal Church, P.O.
