Charles Lovette Kennedy, 58, departed this life on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. He was born on Aug. 17, 1955, in Knoxville. Charles is a 1974 graduate of Reid Ross High School. He served in the United States Air Force, was a manager of Church's Chicken for over 20 years and later became a self-employed contractor. Charles was also an associate member of Legal Shield and served on the board of directors for Chattanooga Restaurant Association. He was preceded in death by his brother, William "Fuzzy" Kennedy Jr. A loving father, grandfather, son, and brother, he will be dearly missed by mother, Annie Elizabeth Kennedy; stepfather, William G. Kennedy, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; father, Charles Pete Drew Knoxville; daughters, Lucretia Freeman Chattanooga, Brandi Kennedy Nashville; son, William (Latasha) Kennedy, Greensboro, N.C.; mother of children, Nita Kennedy, Chattanooga; brother, Anthony Kennedy, Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Gail (Greg) Moulden, Fayetteville, N,C.; half-brother, Anthony Holand; step-sister, Thomasena Drew, both of Knoxville; and grandchildren, Montia, Jordan, Biship, Kennedi, Abigail, Victoria and Londyn; nephews, Travis DeShazior Fayetteville, N.C., and Kelsey Deshazior, Japan; and a host of other siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The body will lie in state 1:30-2 p.m. on Sunday April 6, 2014, located at St. Elmo Avenue Baptist Church, 4500 St.Elmo Ave., Chattanooga, with the funeral beginning at 2 p.m. Officiating Pastors: Roger Kittle and Donald Jenkins.
