Rick Parrigin Charles Richard "Rick" Parrigin, of Ooltewah, formerly of McAndrews, Ky., passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga. Born March 10, 1955 in Williamson, W.Va.; he was the son of Alfred Parrigin of McAndrews, Ky., and the late Delta Moore Parrigin. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Ernestine and William G. "Buster" Varney of Turkey Creek, Ky. Rick was a retired electrician from Eastern Coal Company and he retired from the Farleys and Sathers Candy Co. having worked in the maintenance, mechanical, and electrical department. He attended Greenwood Baptist Church in Ooltewah. Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife April Varney Parrigin, of Ooltewah; three sisters Fran (Buster) Varney, Linda Kunz and Mandy (Mike) Smith, all of McAndrews, Ky.; his sister-in-law, Rita Thomas Barbery, of Harrison; nieces, Nikki DeMurray and Cindie Cruze; nephews, Jason and Jamie Varney, Paul R. Hensley and Frazier H. Barbery Jr.; great-niece, Samantha Cruze; great-nephews, Daniel and Dylan DeMurray, J.C. Cruze, Jordan H. Barbery and Frazier Harrison Barbery III. Also surviving is a host of friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, Ky., with Elders Richard Staten, Hobart Hamilton and Danny Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home with a special service at 7 p.m. with Steve Spurlock and James Justice speaking.
