Vernia Miles

Vernia Zona Miles, 93, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Harrison M. and Stella M. Goins and was preceded in death by her husband, Acie M. Miles; son, David Lamar Miles; and five sisters, Cleo Goins, Nettie Bolden, Jewell Curtis, Juanita Goins and Allie Smith. Vernia was a member of The Crossing Church and was active in the Womens Ministry and with missions. Survivors include her two children, Jo Gearrin (Winfred), of Chattanooga, Vernon M. Miles (Jeanette), of Tampa, Fla.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Thelbert Goins, of Pasco, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., Monday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Harris and the Rev. Gary Harris officiating. The interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 57 p.m., today at the funeral home.
