Jerry Bill Cantrell, 76, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Chattanooga, following a brief illness. The son of the late Charlie and Verna Parker Cantrell, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Keahey Cantrell; and a daughter, Terri Lisa Cantrell. He was a member of the American Legion, having served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, and was a diesel mechanic for many years, working first for Wheland Trucking and then Penske, from whom he retired in 1999. Mr. Cantrell is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Nelson Cantrell, of Birchwood; a daughter, Kimberly Power, of Jasper; a son, Chris Cantrell, of Kingsport, Tenn.; brother, Jimmy Cantrell, of South Pittsburg; sisters, Helen Brewer and Juanita Green, of Jasper; step-children, Diana Broadwell, of Chattanooga, Pete Martel, of Pikeville, Lillian Green, of Chattanooga, Linda Parker, of Soddy-Daisy; grandchildren, Cyndi and Brooke VanAllman and Cory and Josh Cagle; five step-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg at 2 p.m. central time on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
