Madge Lockhart

Madge Clements Lockhart, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Madge was an educational organization executive. She was born is Soddy, Tenn., to the late Arlie and Ollie Clements. Madge was co-founder and president of Hermes, Inc., now known as Life Bridges. She was owner and operator of Lockhart's Learning Center Inc. of Cleveland and Chattanooga, she was co-founder of Dawn Center in Hamilton County. She was an author of poetry, Short stories and fiction stories. She was president of the Cleveland Association of Retarded Citizens. President of Cherokee Easter Seal Society, Cleveland Creative Arts Guild, board of directors Tennessee Easter Seal Society, member of the Church of Christ and she was an advocate for the Handicapped. Madge was preceded in death by her parents Arlie and Ollie Sparks Clements; son, Andrew J. Lockhart; brothers, Wallance , George Dean, James A. and John Clements; and sister, Shirley Matherley Madge is survived by her children, Jacqueline (Mickey) West; Janice Watson and Jill ( David) Smith; grandchildren, Mickey West Jr., Lisa Parris, Kimberly Lockhart, Andrew J. Lockhart IV, Madi Lockhart, Stephen B. Cash, Wade Cash, Davey Smith and Dustin Smith; siblings Betty Crawley, Dot Yasko, Lane Hall, Ben Clements, Jerry Clements and Larry Clements. The family will receive friends at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel today from noon until the time of service. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Minister James R. Lewis. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
