Anita Howell

Anita Hopkins Howell passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in Erlanger Hospital, Chattanooga. She was born on March 27, 1946 in Chattanooga to Bill and Margaret Hopkins and graduated from Red Bank High School in 1964 and Tennessee Tech in 1966. Anita earned her Professional Secretarial designation and worked in executive secretarial positions for many years. In 1981 she returned to school and challenged the LPN nursing program. She worked in private duty nursing and PRN positions at various hospitals. In 1989 she again furthered her education and became a pharmacy technician. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Howell; and parents, Bill and Margaret Hopkins. She was a member of Rising Fawn Baptist Church where she served as church officer under the Adult Ministry/Senior Ministry - better known as "The Golden Girls". She had a genuine love for life and enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and pastimes. She enjoyed traveling and taking care of her devoted pets, Toby and Lola Mae. Survivors include her extended family of sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Cindy, Rising Fawn; Mike and Annis, Trenton; Chris, Trenton; grandchildren, Steven, Lisa, Matthew, Jessie, Madison, Brodie, Jaspen, Brittany, Ian, Judah, Shawn, CJ and Liela; one nephew and niece. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. today, April 12, in the Trenton Chapel with Rev. Tommy Crider officiating.
