Rev. Samuel Davis

Rev. Samuel Jackson Davis, went home to be with his Lord, on Friday, April 18, 2014. S.J. was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and minister. He leaves behind a great legacy of more than 50 years of ministry in the Church of God. He pastored, pioneered churches and evangelized in both Florida and Tennessee. Because of his great love for people and his passion for Christ many have been influenced for the Kingdom of God. He not only leaves behind a remarkable legacy with the church but also within his family. His work for the Lord will continue on in the Life of his family. S.J. is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Wilson Davis; five children Gail (David) Owens, of East Ridge, LaVonda (Randy) Lyons, of Callahan, Fla., Terry (Cynthia) Davis, of Trenton, Fla., Priscilla (Elmer) Holbrooks, of Callahan, Fla., Steve (Rachel) Davis, of East Ridge; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on today, April 21, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at North Hixson Church of God and on Tuesday, April 22, from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Funeral service for S.J. will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at North Hixson Church of God with Bishop Steve Thomas and Bishop Gene Rice officiating. Entombment will follow to Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the exceptional care that he received for the past four years from the caring staff at NHC, Fort Oglethorpe and the Hospice of Chattanooga.
