Maudie Layne

Maudie Marie Layne, 90, of Ringgold, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Mrs. Layne was born and raised in Buladean, N.C. She was a member of Delray Baptist Church, retired as a teachers aide in Chattanooga and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She especially adored her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick M. Layne; parents, Rexter and Manervie Street; sisters, Pearl Moffitt, Stella Will, Mae Davis and Laudia Hicks; and brothers, Carter, Finn, Dexter, Lee, Ralph and Clell Street. She is survived by her daughter, Joann Lane, Hixson; sons, Darrell (Frankie) Bidwell, Marietta, Ga. and Michael Bidwell, Harrison; six grandchildren, Stacey Skinner, Kimberly Bishop, Mark Lane, Lindsay Simmons, Tambra Hickman and Steven Bidwell; 10 great-grandchildren; special niece, Brenda Williams and several other nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Peggy Carlisle. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, April 24, 2014, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014, at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Eaves officiating.
