Joshua Thompson

Joshua Wesley Thompson, 27, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Starr Regional Medical Center of Etowah. Joshua was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed photography, being outside and loved anything to do with an engine.Josh was a combat veteran serving in Iraq with the 269th company of the 117th battalion of the Tennessee National Guard. He also treasured his time spent in the National Guard. Joshua was the son of Harry Charles Thompson and Paula Evett Williams. Survivors include his parents; Paula and Hal Williams, of Athens, Tenn., and Hank and Jackie Thompson, of Hixson; grandparents; Harrianne and Charles Thompson, of Benton, Tenn., and Bill and Shelby Davis, of Athens; stepsisters and one brother-in-law, Megan Wagner, Lauren and Jonathan Brannen, Lexi Williams, and Haley Williams; stepbrothers, Tyler Williams and Nolan Williams; special friend, Bobby Jean Bradford; and several loved nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Allen officiating. Family will receive friends from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your own choosing.
