Opal "Dear" Eddins White, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, in a local hospital. She retired from North Park Hospital after more than 40 years. She was a longtime, faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and Pastor's Aide. She was preceded in death by her sons, Jamie White and Lorenzo White; parents, Yancy Eddins and Mary Jordan Eddins; sisters, Icie Manning, Annie Pearl Eddins, Velma Hinton, Zelma Windham, and Margaret Wilder; brothers, Benjamin Eddins, Willie David Eddins, Isaac Eddins, Lonzo Eddins, M.C. Eddins and Jimmie Lee Eddins; grandson, Anthony Lorenzo White; two sons-in-law, Jimmy Martin and Dennis Gillon. Survivors include sons, David (Talena) White and Rance White, both of Chattanooga; daughters, Mary Martin, of Milwaukee, Wis., Sherry Gillon, of Bellwood, Ill., Jaunda White (Clifford) Braswell, Karen White Williams, both of Chattanooga, and Debora White (Brian) Fletcher, of Knoxville; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Barbara Eddins, of Chattanooga; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; other relatives and friends. Visitation: from 6-8 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday at noon in the chapel with Pastor James E. Calhoun as the eulogist. Burial: Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
