Esther Poi, 88, of Chattanooga passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, in a local health care center. Born June 3, 1925, Mrs. Poi was a Tennessean who married and moved to New York City always carrying a love of the green hills and natural beauty of Tennessee along with fond memories of New York City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chang Poi; sister, Bonnie Lee; brother, Hershel Greene; and parents, Oma and Albert Greene. Those left to cherish her memory include daughter, Lupina (Jim) Haney; son, Dean (Sandy) Poi; grandsons, Jonathan Poi, Chang Webb, Shan (Emily) Webb; great-granddaughter, Kate Webb; sisters, Frances Black, Kathleen Chang, Faye (Cameron) Sprowles; brother, Claude (Wanda) Greene along with several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Pettengill and Pastor Thomas McGuirt officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
