passed away at her home on Friday, April 25, 2014. Betty was a lifelong resident of Rhea County, a member of the New Union Baptist Church, active homeaker and dairy farmer all of her life, was a wonderful lady, grandmother, mother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded by her husband, Jimmy "Buddy" Jewell; parents, Andy and Ollie Brown Smith; two sisters, Cella Denton, Leota Boofer; four brothers, Thomas, Jesse, Earl, and Claude Smith. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Mulkey; a son, Roddy Jewell, both of Dayton; two special friends and caregivers, Judy Earles and Dee Housley; one sister, Helen Bishop, of Dayton; three grandchildren, Clint (Emily) Jewell, Jamie (Brandi) Jewell, Kelly (Jeff) Dodson; two great-grandchildren, Maggie and Delanie Dodson; several nieces and nephews. The family would like thank Amedesis Hospice of Athens and Dr. Lagan for their care for Betty.
