William Browder

William Lewis "Buddy" Browder, 80, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, in Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. He was born Jan. 21, 1934 to the late William Hamilton and Oda Wattenbarger Browder and was a lifelong resident of McMinn County, Tenn. He attended and graduated from McCallie School was a Vanderbilt graduate having attended from 1952-1956. He was commissioned in the U.S. Army in 1956 serving in the ROTC in school and served in the CIC in Germany. After returning from the Army he was co-owner of Athens Oil Co. and later started Asphalt Concepts, Inc. in 1976 and retired in 1998. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors: wife of 30 years, Emma Jane Dodson Browder, of Athens, Tenn.; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Bunny Browder, of Riceville, Tenn.; niece, Allison Browder Leonard, of Chattanooga; nephew, Richard Cullen Browder, of Cary, N.C.; stepdaughter and husband, Terrie and John Castleman, of Chattanooga; two granddaughters, Leigh Anne Castleman Sanders and husband, Derek, of Nashville, and Sarah Elizabeth Castleman, of Nashville. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Rev. Steve Brown officiating. Active pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Yarber, Roy Glass, J.R. Dugan, Eddie Millard, Bob Wilson, Dean Landreth, former McCallie Classmates, Vanderbilt Gator Bowl Team of 1956, and former employees of ACI. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O.
