Harold Shell

Harold Shell CLEVELAND Harold Roger Shell, 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at the family residence. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where he was a faithful member of the Bethany Sunday School Class. He was a self-employed construction worker; owner of Shell's Used Cars and was the owner of many apartments and a campground. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed yard sales, fishing and he really enjoyed his breakfasts at Hardees. Mr. Shell was the son of the late N.C. Shell and Meda Rogers Shell of Athens. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Jeremy David Gibson, and great-granddaughter, Malorie Rose Shell. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Jean Shell of Cleveland; children: Roger Shell of Cleveland, Sandra Lovelace and husband, John, of Ooltewah, Susan Patterson and husband, Daryl, of Cleveland, Sheryl Taylor of Cleveland and Keith Shell and wife, Sharon, of Decatur; grandchildren, Misty deLamare and husband, David, Nathan Shell, Krisondra Gibson, Chad Shell and wife, Julia, Tyler Howard, Natoshia Bunger and husband, Stephen, Kayle Mikel, Jessica Lovelace, Paul Hunter Patterson and Tia Patterson; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne Shell and wife, Juanita, of Athens; one sister, Joy Rutherford and husband, Bruce, of Sevierville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Caywood officiating. A private family interment will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, in Sunset Memorial Gardens with his grandsons, Paul Patterson, Tyler Howard, Nathan Shell, Chad Shell, Stephen Bunger, and David deLamare serving as pallbearers. His sons-in-laws, John Lovelace and Daryl Patterson, will also serve as pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers will be his Bethany Sunday School Class. His family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
