Allan Crawford

James Allan Crawford, 70, departed this life Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014. He was born in Chattanooga to the late Jack and Rosel Crawford, and was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church in Tunnel Hill. Allan retired from Catoosa County Fire & Rescue after volunteering with them for 19 years and was still active with Cohutta Volunteer Fire Department. He also worked in engineering with TVA, TNT Plant, the United States Postal Service, and opened his own business of Crawfords Garbage Service. He loved his church family and working with the Boy Scouts as a leader in the Troop where both his sons, Josh and Jacob became Eagle Scouts. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Anne Burnette. Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Linda Grizzle Crawford of Tunnel Hill; children, Jeff (Debbie) Crawford of Sequatchie, Tenn.; Kelly (Don) Haney of Bryant, Ala.; Joshua (Wendy) Crawford of Chattanooga; Jacob (Karrie) Crawford of Ringgold; grandchildren, Amber, Megan, Samantha, Zachary, Julie Anna, Jaxon, Jack, Kadie Mae; great-granddaughter, Harlee; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Wood Dale Health Care Center for their love and care during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, in the Wallis-Stewart Chapel, with Pastor Trey Comstack officiating. Interment will follow in Smith Chapel U.M.C. Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. today, Aug. 3, and prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Smith Chapel U.M.C., 4245 Stewart Road, Tunnel Hill, Georgia 30755. Arrangements are by Wallis-Stewart Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes-Ringgold, Ga.
