Jim Stone

Jim Stone was born Nov. 21, 1941, in Brownsboro, Ala. to the late Johnnie Mae Parker and the late Cleve Stone. Jim departed this life on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at his residence at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Berry Stone; and his siblings, Mattie Penn, Bob (Virginia) Stone, Reuben Stone and Nalls Parker; his friends, Connie and Thomas Hudson; and Carrie and Ervin Bonner Sr. Jim was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Jackie Berry on Sept. 2, 1962. To this union, one devoted daughter was born, Sharon Nichole Stone-Suttles. Jim attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in North Chattanooga. Jim worked as a Commercial truck driver for over 30 years. Some of the companies included Glenn Automotive, D&N Transportation, Shaw Carpets and AAA Cooper. Jim has travelled all over the United States and never met a stranger. He drove hard and his laughter and positive spirit could brighten anyones day. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Sharon Nichole Stone- Suttles (Paul) and Veranda Barnette; his grandchildren, Marisha Suttles, Elijah Suttles and Trammell Petty (April); his great-grandchild, Trammell Petty Jr.; his sister-in-laws, Fontaine Moore and Sharon Green; his devoted cousin, Tommy L. Dean; his special friend, Carolyn Lawrence; The Hudson Girls (Cheryl, Roslyn and Constance), and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 67 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
