James McNabb Sr.

James David McNabb Sr., 81, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014. He had lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He was an Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict, where he was a P.O.W. for more than 30 days and was also the Recipient of the Purple Heart. He was previously employed with Anderson Motors as a Mechanic for more than 20 years and was a member of the American Legion Post 214. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his two sisters; and one brother. Survivors include his loving wife of more than 62 years, Betty Lou Carpenter McNabb, of Rossville; sons, David McNabb Jr. and Roger McNabb, both of Fort Oglethorpe and Tommy McNabb and Marty McNabb, both of Rossville; two brothers, Kiaser McNabb, of Suck Creek Mountain and Donald McNabb, of Rossville; sister, Pauline Perkins, of Hixson; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Joe Monelia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel. Burial will follow in LaFayette Memory Gardens.
