Helen Merrell

Helen Cagle Merrell, 94, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014 in a Chattanooga, assisted living facility. The daughter of the late Elijah Benjamin and Lassie Burton Cagle, she was a retired bookkeeper having worked for many years in the Marion County School System. She was of the Baptist faith and loved spending her time painting, cooking and playing piano. She is survived by her sisters, Maudie Sisemore, of Jasper and Janie C. Smith, of Chattanooga; son, Allen (Judy) Merrell, of Graysville, Ga.; grandson, Chad (Laura) Merrell, of Sequatchie, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Wanda Johnson, of Jasper; great-grandchildren, Chase and Corbin Merrell and Justin Ireland; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 9, with Rev. Lynn Cassiday and Rev. Doug Carpenter officiating.
