Willie Ruth Murphy

Willie Ruth "Boots" Murphy, 80, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Fred and Margaret Clark Ward in Catoosa County and has been a resident of Chickamauga for the past 60 years. Ruth was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed every moment with her children and grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Tommie Lee Murphy; son, Dennis Lee Murphy; sister, Nell Ward; and brother, William "Bud" Ward. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Tom) Shahan, of Chickamauga, Judy L. (Johnny) Shields, of Chickamauga and Amy (Ronnie) Thrower, of Hixson; sister, Jewel Boling, of Dalton; brother, Larry Ward, of Dalton; nine loving grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, in Chickamauga City Cemetery, with Rev. Zach deVaux officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today and prior to leaving for the cemetery on Sunday. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, J. Avery Bryan Chapel.
