Raymond Vick

Raymond "Sonny" Vick passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at the age of 76, to go be with his Lord and Savior. He was a former employee of the EPB appliance service department for 18 years before forming and operating AGS Refrigeration in 1974 and retiring in 2003. He was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Tabernacle and truly loved and trusted the Lord. He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and Rossville area and was a true friend to all who knew him and was a generous man with a heart of gold. He loved all forms of motorsports, especially NASCAR and drag racing. He was a former karting champion, Tennessee state hill-climbing champion, stock car winner and car and motorcycle drag race winner. Anything that he set his mind to he exceled at. As mechanic and crew chief for his son's drag racing motorcycle, he was responsible for seven national event titles and seven consecutive Brainerd Optimist track championships. He was an innovative wizard and was always willing to help any competitor who needed it. He won numerous awards for Best Engineered Drag Bike, Best Appearing Drag Bike and Outstanding Performance. He was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Janie Vick; wife, Wanda Vick; daughter, Tonja Rash; brother, Harold Vick. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Ginger Vick; grandson, Sonny Lynn Vick; son-in-law, Chris Rash; aunt, Sarah Brown; cousin Therry Vick and special friends, Randy and Danita Headrick, Nicky and Mary Rash, Taylor Newby, David Raulston, and many other too numerous to mention. He was a great man who will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sam Riggs, Rev. Greg Nash and Brother Randy Headrick officiating. Interment will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens South. Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort with the family and view the memorial tribute.
