Frank Stricklen  Jr.

Frank Stricklen Jr. Frank Stricklen Jr., of Chattanooga, departed this life Friday, Aug. 8, 2014. He was a Howard High School graduate, Class of 1950, and a 1954 graduate of Tennessee State University. He was a retired school teacher of Hamilton County School System, Chattanooga, and Atlanta, GA. He was a faithful member of the 19th Hole Golf Association and Omega Psi Phi fraternity. He was preceded in death by parents, Myrthe Lee Woodard and Frank Stricklen Sr.; brother, Johnny (Barbara) Stricklen; brother-in-law, Edgar E. Thompson Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory, devoted wife, Lois Traylor Stricklen; sons, Eric (Harriet S.) Stricklen, Fairfield, Calif.; Chip Bradford, Nashville; daughter, Erica (Brian) Sledge, Chattanooga; sister, Frances S. Thompson, Wilmington, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and dear friend, Marsha Hayes of Chattanooga. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15 in the chapel of the funeral home, Dr. Horace Traylor, Eulogist, and Pastor Ternae Jordan officiating. Interment will be in the National Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today, Aug. 14, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave. 622-9995.
