Mildred Sutton

Mildred Ann Sutton, 71, of Chattanooga, formerly of Etowah, Tenn., passed away Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at her residence. Mildred attended Etowah Grammar School and graduated from Etowah High School as valedictorian, and graduated Tennessee Wesleyan College with honors. She worked at Erlanger Medical Center for 36 years in the Histology and Cytology Department working with cancer slides. Mildred was a member of New Heights Baptist Church where she helped out in the children's department. She was a daughter of the late Lewis and Ruby Sutton, and was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Alice Sutton, of Chattanooga, formerly of Etowah; and brother, Bill Sutton of Florida, formerly of Etowah. Survivors include two sisters, Doris Jackson and Helen Grant both of Florida; Close cousins, Mary Maxwell, of Etowah and Walter Younce, of Sevierville, Tenn; several cousins, nephews, nieces and grandnephews and grandnieces. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 14, 2014, in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Dr. Walter Hare officiating. Family and friends will proceed to Green Hill Cemetery for the committal service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Faye Forgety, 120 County Road 447, Athens, TN 37303.
