Mary Louise Ashby

Mary Louise Ashby, 93, of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014. Mary Louise was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area. She retired from Kroger where she worked for over 38 years. Mary Louise was a member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.G. Ashby; great-grandson, Shawn Thomas Slaughter Jr.; and her siblings, Paul Murphy and Birdie Mae File. Mary Louise is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Nancy Ashby; grandchildren, Robb Ashby, Katrina Ashby Pell and Victoria Slaughter; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A celebration of life service for Mary Louise will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at her gravesite in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family wants to thank the staff and nurses at Hospice of Chattanooga for their love and compassion given to Mary Louise during her illness.
