Ted Futrelle

Ted A. Futrelle passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at the age of 64, after fighting an eight-year battle against cancer. He is survived by his wife, Joan (ne Boerger), of 33 years; his daughter, Abigail; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Julie and Theodore Boerger and Elizabeth and Donald Robinson; his nephew, Blake; his nieces, Riley, Karlee and Jennifer; his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Patsy Futrelle; and his familys dogs, Nick and LuLu. Ted was an exemplary husband, father and man. His passing is a devastating loss. He will remain deeply loved, missed and respected by his family and close friends, including his Sigma Chi fraternity brothers. He was truly an extraordinary person exceptionally kind and generous, funny, loving and light-hearted. He was a voracious reader, a lover of music and a lover of the outdoors and animals. Teds proudest achievement was the log cabin he built by himself, with his own hands, from the trees on 10 acres at the foot of Signal Mountain, and that he would expand over the years into a warm and beautiful log home for his family. It is the only home he and his wife, Joan, shared together in their over 33 years together. Hearth Hospice was such a source of support and comfort during this difficult time. Therefore, Joan and Abby ask that donations be made to Hearth Hospice in lieu of flowers. "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; a time to be born and a time to die: a time to plant and a time to pluck that which is planted." Ecclesiastes 3:1 "Don't think twice, it's all right." Bob Dylan. Visit www.lanefh.com to share condolences. Visitation will be held on from 6-8 p.m. today, Aug. 15, at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace, 877-3524.
