Nelson Rogers

Nelson "Dave" Rogers, 73, passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer, before being called home to the Lord. He was retired as a truck driver from Old Dominion Truck Lines and Nestle' Foods. He attended East Brainerd Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Christine Rogers; grandson, Keith Ray Saylor; great-granddaughters, Kopelyn Kate McCoy Saylor and Gentry Kate Rae Saylor, parents, Oliver and Maggie Frances Rogers; and sister, Lois Pearl Ward. Survivors include three daughters, Angie (Gary) Swaggerty, Sheila (Larry) Wheat and Connie (Tommy Hutchins) Ingram; two stepchildren, Arnold Saylor Jr. and Rick (Sue) Saylor; brothers, Robert (Wanda) Rogers, Donald Rogers, George Ward and Johnny (Glenda) Burton; sisters, Sue Long, Kathy (Tony) Williams and Pearl (Clyde) Stephens; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Swaggerty and Gary Swaggerty officiating. Graveside services will be held privately at a later date. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m until 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2014, in the funeral home. Arrangements by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
