Daniel Clarkson

Daniel Allen Clarkson, 84, passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, in the afternoon. He had been a member of Rock Spring United Methodist Church for 70 years and was a member of The Joy Sunday School class. Dan was the co-owner of Clarkson Dairy for 35 years, along with his brother Byron Clarkson. After retiring from dairy farming, he worked at BI-LO in Fort Oglethorpe for 19 years where he loved interacting and socializing with his customers. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War for three years. Dan was preceded in death by his mother and father, Nora and Lee Clarkson; brother Byron Clarkson; niece, Holly Parrish; and sister, Mildred Martin. Dan is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 28 years Gloria Green Clarkson; his son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Karen Clarkson of Chickamauga; stepson and daughter-in-law, Greg and Kim Ramey of LaFayette; stepson and daughter-in-law, Chris and Cindy Ramey of Chattanooga; and grandchildren, Kyle and Ashlan Clarkson, Jordan and Jared Ramey, Madison and Mackenzie Ramey. Dan is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rosewood Memory Care and Life Choice Hospice. Funeral at 1 p.m. today, Aug. 18, from the Rock Spring United Methodist Church with Rev. John Brantley officiating. Interment to follow in Rock Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rock Spring United Methodist Church or the Georgia chapter of the Alzheimers Association at 1925 Century Blvd., NE Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345-3315.
