Rev. Robert Sanders

Rev. Dr. Robert E. "Bob" Sanders, 69 years, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday evening, Aug. 12, 2014, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill. Bob was born Dec. 31, 1944 in Carbondale. He was the son of Joed and Anna Isabella Hight Sanders. Bob was united in marriage to Janet (Boyer) in 1990 in Marion, Ill. She survives. Other survivors include: his children, Robert Sanders, of Chattanooga, Scott (Becky) Sanders, of Atlanta, Bridget (Joe) Holder, of Cape Coral, Fla., Rob (Jackie) Deaton of Springfield, Ill., and Randall (Nina) Deaton, of Chattanooga; eight grandchildren, Joshua Sanders, Benjamin Sanders, Ella Sanders, Kelsey Holder, Ava Deaton, Parker Gleeson, Shari Balouchi, and Ali Balouchi; a sister, Joanna Sanders-Clymore and her husband, Eddie, of Creal Springs; a nephew, Kyle Clymore; cousins, other relatives and many dear friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Bob was a 1963 graduate of Vienna High School. He attended Tennessee Temple University and earned a masters degree and doctorate in pastoral ministries from Covington Theological Seminary. Bob had served as a pastor of many churches and was a Christian counselor. He and Janet attended "The Crossing Church" in Chattanooga. Bob was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed fishing and was a great animal lover. Bob especially enjoyed bird watching. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2014, at The Crossing Church, 7501 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
