Mary Ownbey

Mary Louise White Ownbey, 90, departed this earthly life and went to be with Jesus on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at her son's home. She was born in Cleveland on Jan. 28, 1924. She had a treasure trove of dear friends who loved her sweet and smiling disposition. She loved her Lord and Savior and her church first and foremost along with her family. She was the church organist/pianist for over 70 years at Southview and Four Point Baptist Churches. She retired after 30 years at P&G. She was a graduate of Bradley Central High School and the National School of Business. Waiting at heavens gates to receive her with open arms was her loving and faithful husband of 50+ years, Mallon; and sweet daughter Mary Ann. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Hattie Sneed White; sisters, Margaret McKeehan and Zady Moser; and brother, Fred White. She is survived by sons, Gary (Norma) Ownbey Sr. and David (Sonya) Ownbey; and grandchildren, Gary D. Ownbey, II, Geoff Ownbey and Lebron Ownbey, and Monica Stadler several great-grandchildren and many other cousins, loving friends and neighbors. She is also survived by her cousin and best friend, Joyce ONeal. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 23, in the chapel of Companion Funeral and Cremation Services, located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311, The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Delano Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Geoff Ownbey, Lebron Ownbey, James Moser, Alan White, Jimmy Strombergh and Leonard Strombergh. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in her honor be made to Gideon International or Life Bridges of Cleveland.
