George Fiske

George Wendell Fiske, 91, passed away on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at Memorial Hospital George was a member, Deacon and Elder of First Christian Church, 650 McCallie Ave., since joining the church in 1953. He was a talented wood turner and a member of Chattanooga Area Woodturners Club. George was also a savvy businessman who established and ran his own machine tool distributorship: Fiske Machine Tool Co. Bud was also a veteran of WWII. George was the son of the late Earle A Fiske Sr. and Bertha E. Porter of Upton, Mass. Also preceded in death by his first, Anna Jane Bell Fiske; a daughter, Faye Anne Rogers; one brother, Earle Jr.; and sisters, Helen Southwood and Evelyn F. Fowler George is survived by his wife of 16 years, Alisha Faye Smith Fiske of Soddy-Daisy; four daughters, Wendy (Buford) Watson of Blaine, Tenn., B.J. Fiske and her partner Marsha Beach of Grand Junction, Col., and Jenny (Mark) Lawrence of Lakeland, Tenn., Sandra J, Schreeder (Michael) of Hixson; grandchildren Anna (Brent) Curvin, Black Mtn., N.C., Taver (Amy) Leedy, Bean Station, Tenn., and Sarah (Dennis) Nicely, Maynardville, Tenn., and Mithcell Lawrence, Lakeland, Tenn., and one great-granddaughter, Gracie Leddy; brother Ernest P. Fiske (Jermaine Gaudette) Fiske; sister Marion "Tiny" (Bob) Prentiss of Upton, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Chattanooga Funeral Home - North Chapel.
