Janie McCleskey

Janie McClintock Janie McCleskey McClintock, 76, departed from this life on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, surrounded by her love ones. Born in Amonate, Va., to Samuel and Frances Hairston, Janie moved with her family to Kingsport, Tenn. She later moved her family to Chattanooga. Janie was a member of Shepherd Church of Christ until her health prevented her from attending. Janie worked for Red Food Store and later retired from Bi-Lo. She also worked for the Chattanooga Police Department as a crossing guard. Janie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Levenus McClintock; three sons; two brothers; and one sister. Survivors are her children, Maccine Stafford, Delois (Darrell) Ransom, Alvin Stafford, Pamela Davis and William McCleskey III; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Gwendolyn Winn; ex-husband, William McCleskey, Jr.; special cousin, Constance Clark and very special friend Marian Moon. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, in the Chapel with Minister Richard Ervin officiating. Interment in Highland Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 78 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
