Jane McKenzie

Jane Suits McKenzie, 74, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. Jane was born July 25, 1940, in Cleveland, Tenn., to the late Spurgeon and Opal Ruble Suits, and also preceded in death by her husband, R.L. McKenzie Jr.; son, Tony McKenzie; and sister, Shirley Miller. She graduated from Bradley Central High School. She had worked for Chattanooga Gas Co. and later retired from Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development after 30 years of service. Jane attended Decatur United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her children and spouses, Ruben "Mike "and Michele Brown McKenzie, Chris and Bridget McKenzie and Jennifer McKenzie, all of Decatur; grandchildren, Logan McKenzie, Bryce McKenzie, Tanner McKenzie and Emma Womac; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Ned Johnson, of Cleveland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Billy G and Johnnie McKenzie, of Decatur, George Madison and Shelby McKenzie, of Harrison, Jerry M. and Jennia McKenzie, of Decatur; and one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Benny Deloach, of Decatur; several nieces, nephews and numerous other extended family members and beloved friends. A memorial celebration of her life is planned for 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at Decatur United Methodist Church located at 145 Vernon St. in Decatur, Tenn., with the Rev. Hugh Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday afternoon from 2 until the 4 p.m. service time. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Decatur United Methodist Church Building Fund in Janes memory.
