Bill Gass

James William "Bill" Gass, 79, of Chattanooga, went home to with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, after a short illness. He was born in Chattanooga on Nov. 9, 1935, to the late James Hamilton Gass and Vera B. Long Gass. Bill served his country, a member of the U.S. Air Force, while stationed in Guam. He then met Shelby Jean Johnson in 1961 and they married in 1963. Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Shelby Gass; sister, Josephine Mahoney and her husband, Albert; several brothers and sisters-in-law; many dear nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
