TJ Dossett

Roosevelt "TJ" Dossett Jr. departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, in Greensboro, N.C. He was born April 1, 1931, in Kensington, Ga., to Roosevelt Dossett and Anna Mae Young. He was the second of five children. "TJ," as he was endearingly called, was loved by all who met him, even up until he took his last breath. He was educated in the Chattanooga school system until he quit to take care of his family. Family was very important to him. In fact, Christmas time was his favorite time of year to share with his family. He later completed his education by obtaining his GED. All that knew him will remember him for his entrepreneurship. He owned multiple businesses throughout the years. He retired from Ross Meehan Foundries and the City of Chattanooga. His failing health is the only thing that slowed him down. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anna Joyce Dossett Frazier; and two brothers, George E. Dossett and John N. Dossett. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Lena (Donnie) Dossett Patterson of Lawrenceville, GA and Shannon Fairbanks of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Crystal (TJ) Patterson Talley, Lake City, Fla.; Donnie (Lanisha) Patterson, Knoxville, Tenn.; DeJuan Cooper, Sierra Dews, and DeAngelo Dews, all of Chattanooga; four great-grandchildren; a brother Joseph (Maxine) Dossett of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Rosie Dossett of Chattanooga; a longtime dear friend, Vertis Worsham of Atlanta, Ga.,; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, December 22, in the funeral home chapel. Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. this evening at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
