Fannie Mae Casteel

Fannie Mae Beasley Casteel, 100, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014. She was born in Murphy, N.C., to the late Henry and Mollie Beasley. Fannie Mae has been a resident of the Chattanooga area for the past 75 years. She was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. Fannie Mae was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed quilting. She was preceded in death by husband, Sam Casteel; daughter, Leilla Casteel Dillard; sons, R. L. and Wendell Casteel; granddaughter, Lisa Casteel Sullivan; grandson, Shannon Casteel; brothers, Ben, Onnie, Price and Lawrence Beasley; sisters, Ethel Manrey, Loma Raines and Mattie Casteel. Fannie Mae is survived by her children, Garland (Ruby) Casteel, Lewis Casteel, Farrell (Meredith) Casteel, Norman Casteel and Steve (Kathy) Casteel; daughters, Jean Rogers and Sandra Oakley; son-in-law, James Dillard; grandsons, James, Randell and Darrell Dillard, Rick Rogers, Shan Casteel and Jason Meadows; granddaughters, Keva Burchfield, Jada Loveless, Joy Meadows and Samantha Casteel; many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today, Dec. 26, and noon-1 p.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gerry Benson officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
