Leonard Pharr

Leonard Pharr, 100 years old, of Chattanooga went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014. He grew up in the Chattanooga area and moved to Norfolk, Va., to take a job with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. After retirement from the shipyard he operated a successful heating and air-conditioning business in Norfolk for a number of years before returning to Chattanooga. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Katherine Lawson Pharr; son, Gene Pharr; parents, F.C. and Dora Pharr; brothers, Earl, Elmer, Herman, and Edward Pharr; sisters, Lillian, Thelma, and Johnny Pharr, Hazel Moore, Lottie Potter, Betty Wilson and Nell Ward. Surviving family members include his daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Stan Casteel, Chattanooga; grandchildren, Colin Pharr, Boulder, Colo., Stephanie Paris, Los Angeles, Calif., Katie Hall and Andy and wife Elizabeth Casteel, of Chattanooga; great-grandson, Micah Casteel; brother, Connie Pharr; nieces, Regina (Mrs. Michael) Utterback and Melinda (Mrs. Steve) Holder. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wendell Smith and Rev. Terry Harris officiating. Pallbearers: Ken Elrod, Bobby Ogle, James Baggett, Avery Kerley, Larry Kimsey, and Bud Wisseman; honorary pallbearers: M.D. Schubert, Terry Shoemaker, Ed Zipp, and James Gamble.
