Mark Kay

John Mark Kay, 57, of Chattanooga, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. He was always willing to help those in need and passionate about his family and friends. Known by his middle name, Mark, he was born to the late Jack and Shirley Kay, Dec. 24, 1956, in Nacogdoches, Texas. In his youth, Marks family relocated to Chattanooga, where Marks father served as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church. Mark was an active member of the music ministry including serving in the choir, singing solos in his signature bass tone, and playing Jesus in the annual Christmas play. He graduated from Chattanooga City High School in 1975. During his career, he was a warehouse supervisor with his last position at Penn Color in Ringgold, Ga. Mark is survived by two brothers, Kent Kay, of St. Louis, Mo., and Glenn Kay, of McDonough, Ga.; and two children, Nikki (Brian) Hensley, of Chattanooga, and Ashley Brooke (Rick) Lanter, of Atlanta. In addition, he was blessed with the gift of five beautiful grandchildren, Ashton Hensley, Gabbie Hensley, Brooklyn Hensley, Hadley Lanter and Londyn Lanter.
