Allen Brostrom

Allen W. Brostrom passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 in Tahlequah, Okla., at the age of 84. He was born Nov. 25, 1929 in Lake City, Minn. Allen entered the United States Air Force Nov. 16, 1948 and was honorably discharged Aug. 16, 1951. Allen worked at Jewell Nursery in Lake City, Minnesota from 1945 until 1968 and Valley Craft Products from 1968 to 1969. In 1969 he began his career as Operations Manager of Mid-Western Nursery and later became president of Mid-Western of Tennessee, Mid-Western of Alabama, and Bobby Unser Transportation until 1990. Allen became involved in the travel industry and was President of Travel by Air, Land and Sea, Chattanooga, where he retired in 2013. Allen enjoyed laughing and spending time with his family. He enjoyed driving with the top down in his convertible across the United States finding interesting sights for his customers to visit. Allen was passionate in his beliefs that today's youth needed insight into their government. This led him to become involved with the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. He was also supportive of Teen Challenge, an organization that helps troubled youth in Chattanooga. Donations in memory of Allen can be sent to: Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, P.O.
