Robert Eisenbrandt

Robert E. Eisenbrandt, 92, of Alexian Village, Signal Mountain, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, after a brief illness. A native of Chicago, Ill., he was a Captain in the US Army Air Corps during WWII where he served as a pilot and squadron commander in the Pacific Theater. Bob retired from the United States Gypsum Co. after 37 years of service. In 2000 he received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for his dedicated humanitarian service to the Lions Club International Foundation. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Vivian; children, Carol (Curtis) Ballard, Nancy Eisenbrandt, Gary Eisenbrandt; and grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Fuson, Emma Leigh and Blais Eisenbrandt; and stepgrandchildren, Brodie Ballard and Holly Winters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lena; sister, Lillian; brothers, Russell and Charles; and his son-in-law, Dan Fuson. A memorial mass will be held at St. Augustines Chapel Alexian Village, Tenn., at 11:15 a.m. today, Feb. 6, 2014. Interment with full military honors at Chattanooga National Cemetery will follow at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the MJS Healthcare Scholarship Fund c/o Alexian Village, 437 Alexian Way, Signal Mountain, TN 37377 or Hospice of Chattanooga.
