Cheryl Edwards

Sherri Edwards SPRING CITY Cheryl J. "Sherri" Edwards, 57, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. A native of Decatur, Tenn., Sherri was a graduate of Meigs County High School and ETSU. She was a high school teacher for 28 years and worked primarily for the Rhea County Department of Education. Sherri took an active part in the lives of her family and students. She coached cheerleading for many years. Sherri was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her father, Edgar "Shorty" Jewell. Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Lynn Edwards, Spring City; mother, Elaine (Walt) Hensley, Decatur; daughters, Kari (Craig) Byrd, Oxford, Mississippi and Brittany Edwards, Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Eddie Jewell, Decatur; sister, Devra Bostic, Decatur; and several beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, in the Rhea County High School Auditorium with Rev. Jerry Levengood officiating.
